The film was awarded two prizes at the Cannes Film Festival (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System & the FIPRESCI Prize). Additionally, she was a part in the film of Francis Ford Coppola Youth Without Youth. She played Yasim Awar in the BBC's 5 episode The Last Enemy miniseries. Marinca played roles in Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven as well as the Romanian film Boogie. The actress later played a significant performance in the 2014 film Fury in which she played a German woman known as Irma Aunt of Emma.
